Smith Endorses '08 McCain Supporter

Congressman Adam Smith (D) stepped into the middle of the City of Newcastle council campaign, even though the candidate he endorsed, John Drescher, donated hundreds of dollars to the John McCain (R) presidential campaign, according to reliable reports.  Smith is obviously worried about Mark Greene's probable official entry into the 2014 U.S. Congress election, as Greene is the other candidate in the Newcastle council election.  Smith, probably realizes, along with former King County elections official, Dean Logan, and the current director, Sherril Huff, that the 2004 G.O.P. primary for U.S. Representative (Washington, 9th District) was stolen from Mark Greene by an unknown miscreant or miscreants -- and that election officials were never able to get to the bottom of it, not that they tried very hard or at all (Huff, however, wasn't at King County in 2004) -- and thus the election has been shrouded in controversy ever since 2010 when Greene discovered, through unofficial election watcher Bev Harris' reports, and alternative news, that an electronic voting tabulation audit log was missing (after Greene led the vote in 2 of 3 counties on election night, and the overall vote was practically tied) and never accounted for.  There's more to the story than that.  Smith, more worried about the truth of that election coming out just in time for 2014 (the mainstream media has been doing their best to keep a lid on a steaming pot as it tenuously bounces up and down), than Greene's non-corporate financed unofficial campaign, is beside himself with anxiety.  Smith wants to hold onto his "tenure" in Congress, as Mark Greene's "common person" politics catches on in the new 9th District.

Alternative Reality

We live in an age where many people say there needs to be an alternative to the two major parties, and then march right into the voting booth, at least the metaphorical booth, and cast their vote for the same old parties. Ladies and gentlemen, casting a vote is the exercise in power that the multitudes have that can bring to power the alternative that we say we want. If we cannot bring ourselves to even cast a vote against the status quo - even in a primary - all the talk about alternatives is truly just talk. Then there is the so-called alternative media: the bloggers, the fancy political websites, the free tabloids, and so forth. Some of these are actually an alternative to the corporate media, but the large majority are just a restyling and repackaging of the same old media that you know so well. Many have the same mindset, the same arrogance, and the same priorities, which are antithetical to the priorities of the masses. Then they offer endorsements for political candidates just l...

Adam Smith and "Big Brother:" Very Good Friends

Well, it's official:  Rep. Adam Smith is not the least bit concerned about the wishes of the majority of his 9th District constituents (Federal Way, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Renton, Kent, Tukwila, SeaTac and N.E. Tacoma, among others), or the 2014 Congressional election and candidate and challenger Mark Greene , as Smith voted against the Amendment by Rep. Justin Amash (R/Michigan) to rein in part of the overreaching, totalitarian-like NSA surveillance programs.  Unfortunately, the amendment failed by a fairly close margin, 217 - 205, as Smith voted with the "Big Brother 217" in Congress [several Congresspersons did not vote on the Amendment for one reason or another, including Rep. Herrera-Beutler (R) from Washington State].  Hastings (R), Reichert (R), Larsen (D), Kilmer (D) and Heck (D) from the Washington delegation joined Smith in voting down the Amash Amendment.  As you can ...

The Hutchison Slate

In the major league sports world, it is considered unsportsmanlike to run up the score against an opponent to some outlandish degree. That's why in football, when the score is something like 50 - 3, the coach that is ahead puts in substitutes. Reagan Dunn's campaign apparently has no such compunction, in fact he is bringing out the first team to pile up the score (although, he'll need 90% of the primary vote to claim a "win"). Two county councilmembers, Kathy Lambert and Bob Ferguson, both of whom have free passes to their own re-elections (uncontested districts), are effectively helping Dunn. Lambert assisted with and her likeness appeared in a ubiquitous taxpayer-funded county brochure with Dunn. Ferguson and Dunn co-authored an article that appeared in the newspaper of record for Dunn supporters, the "Sound Publishing/Reporter" publications. With the county in a financial crisis and in the midst of a morass, Lambert & Ferguson have nothing better ...
